Volunteer opportunities

Volunteers are an essential part of the SHN SA programme. They ensure that the SHN SA programme remains cost effective, thereby widening the reaches of the programme and assisting an increasing number of children and youth in our country.

The SHN SA programme provides the opportunity for school students to do the community service hours required for Life Orientation.  Through their exposure to the reality of child hunger in South Africa, many learners have continued to support the programme.

Opportunities are available for volunteers to assist our national team in various ways, depending on the time you have available and what you would enjoy the most. Training as an event coordinator or field officer distributing meals to ECDs is provided. We also have volunteers that participate in the day-to-day operations of Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa. We are always delighted to welcome another passionate volunteer into SHN SA.

On the second Saturday of each month, SHN SA hosts a public meal packaging event, Second Saturday Against Hunger, in Cape Town and Gauteng. Volunteers are encouraged to attend this enjoyable and gratifying Saturday morning! It is also a rewarding way to celebrate your birthday or other special event – have your friends join you in helping those less fortunate than yourself.
